Week 5 Tuesday Afternoon Reserve Punter

Got a question about sunglasses etiquette. Alright, you leave home in the morning when it's sunny out. So you put on your shades and go out for the day. Fine. Later that day, when you're about to head home it's totally overcast. It's dark.

So the problem with sunglasses is that you need to walk a fine. Shades can either look cool or make you look like a jerk. Outside on a sunny day: cool. Indoors: idiot. But, what am I supposed to do when the day becomes overcast? You've no place to put your shades. What do you do? Can you wear your sunglasses? Or do you like an idiot?

Anyway, on to the TARP

Week 5 Thoughts I Think I Thought About Thinking

1.) Peyton Manning is playing the position of quarterback better than I've ever seen it played. I've seen Elway, Favre, Aikman, Marino, Young, Brady, but what Manning's doing is ridiculous.

2.) JaMarcus Russell is playing the position of quarterback as bad as I've ever seen it played. I've seen Dave Brown, Danny Kannell, Kent Graham and those were just the Giants. Have seen the Detmers, Aaron Brooks, Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Jim Druckenmiller, among many others. At least Russell makes me feel that I', al,ost as good as a starting NFL QB.

3.) Disappointing performance by the Jets defense. To be fair, it was only one game, but it was a division rival. It was really surprising because the Ravens shut down the Wildcat last year, but the Dolphins Wildcatted the Jets to death. In the fourth quarter the Jets D was scored on more times than [Censored ].

4.) The Broncos are for real. Not only have they go 5-0, not only did they beat the Pats, but they did so while paarading around in those hideous uniforms. Those were the things things on a football field since LT bent Theisman's leg the wrong way.

5.) The Niners were surprisingly undisicplined against the Falcons. Blown coverages all over the place. They were forced to burn a timeout because Coffee didn't realize that the wideout hadn't scored so wasn't on the field. Then there was Dre Bly, who started celebrating his pick wile returning a pick and was tackled and fumbeled away the ball. Atrocious.

6.) If Matt Hasselbeck can stay healthy, the West race could be very interesting. More importantly, how come I didn't get the memo that Matt Hasselbeck should now be referred to as Matthew? On that subject, when did Knoshon Moreno change his last name to Marino?

7.) It's a start, but the Cowboys should not be too excited about their overtime win against Kansas City. A great team sometimes edges a terrible team, but the Cowboys are not a great team and would not have been taking the Chiefs lightly. So what we saw with Dallas is probably what we'll get all year.

8.) Breylon Edwards will be a help to the Jets. I think he's going to have a renewed vigor and he might cut down on some of his drops eventually. Still Chad Henne outplayed Mark Sanchez.

9.) Terrible job by the Texans. Down by seven with third and goal at the two. They run two plays. Fine, but you can't run any play, let alone those who decide the game, without Andre Johnson on the field. There is no offensive situation in which your best offensive player shouldn't be on the field. Okay, you take your best offensive player off the field, but you also take the second best offensive player off the field too? There's absolutely no circumstance in which your best two offensive players shouldn't be in the offensive lineup. None. At least make the defense think about Johnson. Who's calling these plays?

10.) Excited about the Giants visiting the Superdome this week. We're going to learn a lot about the NFC Postseason this weekend.

Limrick of the Week

I decided that this was so special it only deserved to be in this spot"

I'd rather be driven in a hearse
Than watch the Brown-Bills curse
Their offenses blew
Defenses suck too
Still the Broncos unis were worse

AIght till next week...

Peace
