I need to apologize. I was really busy today and that's why this is up so late. Not only that, I didn't have time to write a pre-TARP post. I promise to make it up with a post sometime during this week.

Week 14 Thoughts I Think I Thought About Thinking
1.) Eric Mangini might have just saved his job.
2.) Extremely entertaining Sunday Night game. Don't know if it's the "Game of the Year." A game needs to be played well to be considered that. Both sides made too many mistakes for it to be considered a great game.
3.) People need to calm down about the Cowboys December problems. They lost a close game to a division rival and then to a really good Chargers team. The Cowboys may not make the playoffs, but it's got nothing to do with December, outside of the fact that their remaining of their schedule is murder.
4.) Alex Smith and Brady Quinn have to have cemented their positions as starters next year.
5.) Jet fans are getting a bit overconfident again. Their three wins that consitute their "turnaround" have been against the Bucs, Bills, and Panthers. Plus, they lose the tiebreaker to all the teams their fighting with. Tough chances making the plahyoffs there.
6.) Both Giants fans and Eagles fans need to be concerned with the play of their defenses last week. Neither QB had any issue moving the ball downfield. But Eagles fans can take solace in that it might have been just a one game aberration, Giants fans cannot hold on to that same hope.
7.) SI spent the past week doing a retrospective on the past decade in the NFL. Peter King did a horrible job. He had two columns: an All Decade Team and The Highlights of the Decade. First, Peter King never states what his favorite NFL team is. He's a Boston Red Sox fan. He loves Tom Bradu, always talks about texting him. Connect the dots. If you still can't figure it out, you probably will after this. First, I got two big problems with his all decade team. One, he left Michael Strahan off the team. His reasoning? Strahan only played eight years in the decade, as did Ed Reed who's on the team. So I guess King's saying that Strahan, one of the greatest defensive lineman of all time doesn't deserve to be on any All Decade Team. He was left off for Aaron Smith and Jason Taylor. Really.
Next, he had Mike Vrabel on the team. I still don't understand the reasoning there. Sure Mike Vrabel was a good LB, very versatile, but not deserving to be on an All Decade Team. I'm surprised he left off Troy Brown.
8.) When it came to the Highlights of the decade, King continued his lunacy. Most dramatic game of the decade? A Monday night game where tha Packers blew out the Raiders. Why? Because Favre played a great game the day after his father died. Great story? Sure. Most dramatic game of the year? No way.
Best coach and Franchise of the Decade? Bellichick and the Patriots. The two entities that shamed the NFL with a cheating scandal. Speaking of which...
The Best Single Sseaon (NOT just regular season) Team of the Decade? The 07 Pats. A team that didn't even win the title! AND was busted for cheating.
Best Playoff Game (Non SB): The Nick Harper Colts Steelers game. Not a terrible game. But there were so many that were better. How bout Panthers-Rams that went into double OT? How about Eagles Packers with 4th and 28? How about Giants Packers that went into OT? How about the Giants collpse against the Niners? These are just off the top of my head. Of course, he won't put a Favre failure in there.
Now let's talk about XLII. I know Peter doesn't want to.
Best single game SUper Bowl performance went to the absolute dominating victory the Ravens had over the Giants. Not the performance the Giants had beating the greatest single season team of the decade.
Best SB? Of course it was the poorly played Cards-Steelers game. Not XLII.
So what does King give the Giants? Best upset. A title the Giants players made clear they hated because it assumed that they were not the better team. Of course, it was an upset, but it just reeks that his only mention of the game
Now, on to pafe 2.
Bet trade? Pats deal for Moss. Bet he'd like to change that already. Shows what a great deal that was. How bout, the Chargers getting the picks for Brees and LDT for Michael Vick? How about the Chargers getting the picks for Rivers, Merriman, Sproles, and Kaeding for Eli?
Best individual rivalry? Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Yeah, loved all the times they were on the field at the same time.Sorry about this, needed to vent.
9.) Great job by Collinsworth pointing out that Manningham's had issues with the sideline all year. That's something most Giants fans had noticed (Bad job by me never mentioning it), but I was surprises ed that a national broadcaster was aware of it.
10.) The place to attack any defense is over the middle of the field. That's especially true for the Giants. The misconception with the Giants is that their DBs are weak so they should be attacked deep down the sidelines. That's not entirely true. Their CBs are solid enough, They could defend the sidelines and fly patterns. Their safeties and LBs are weak. It's easy to pick them apart between the two units.
Limerick of the Week
Patriot fans have started cryin
Cuz Randy Moss has quit tryin
But they need not curse
It could easily be worse
And they could be rootin for the Gians.
Peace
